Movie Review: Pressure

Let’s do a movie review: Pressure (2026/PG-13)

I just had the pleasure of watching the Brendan Frazer movie Pressure, and it did not disappoint. The cast was phenominal to start. Brendan Frazer did an amazing job playing Dwight Eisenhower, but he was surrounded by some great performances as well. Damian Lewis as Bernard Montgomery was a great choice. He will always be Major Dick Winters to me, but seeing him in another WWII film was very fitting. Then the two meterologists I did not know prior to this, but they were great. Andrew Scott played James Stagg, and Chris Messina played Irving Krick. These two were dynamic togther.

I dove into their backgrounds in acting and discovered that Scott played Private Hall in Band of Brothers. Now he died on D-Day during the show, which is rather fitting for the role he plays in Pressure since he is trying to save as many lives as possible. I just found that an interesting tidbit. He has appeared in a lot of different films and television shows, including the recent 1917 which is a favorite of mine. Now I want to go watch it just to see which character he was.

Of course I cannot forget about Kerry Condon who played Kay Summersby, who was Eisenhower’s aide. She was phenominal as well. Overall the cast was just spectacular and they really drew you into the drama that was occuring.

If you aren’t aware, the film is about the meterorologists predicting the weather for the D-Day invasion. Prior to the seeing the movie I knew the invasion had been delayed a day due to bad weather, but you never really see how all of that happens or why. This is that story, and its awesome.

I am not going to spoil the movie, as I highly recommend you go see it. But it makes you think about the struggles the Allies went through just getting the men on the beaches for what was the largest amphibious assault in history and really the turning point of the war in Europe. James Stagg will definitely be someone I look into more, and it has me wanting to read more about what Eisenhower went through during the war.

Anyway, go check out Pressure if it is still out where you are or when it hits streaming give it a watch. It will be one I refer back to for years I already know. Great movie.
